Episode 15 – In this episode we talk to Bob Maddux from Virginia Beach, a veteran, who shares his story of recovery. So many of our veterans today are dealing with PTSD, addiction issues and ultimately choosing to end their lives. With Bob’s help we explore the issues facing our veterans and hopefully encourage them to seek the help they need to overcome issues they are facing.

Tim and his wife, Jammie, live in McCook Lake, SD. Tim is the father of three boys, Andrew (29), Tyler (16) and Austin (12). He attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice and Religion, and a master’s degree in management from American Public University. In 1998 Tim was certified in Leadership Development through the University of Nebraska’s Center for Leadership Development.
Tim started working in the human service field in 1987. Throughout is career he had worked with adults with intellectual disabilities, mental health, and youth. He has worked positions from a direct care professional up through administration. In 2001, Tim took a position with an international training company in crisis management known as The Mandt System. Today, he is the Director of Implementation and Governance. In 2009, Tim’s middle son, Tyler, was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome. Since then, his greatest joy comes from working with families…especially, dads. Out of all his titles over the years, his favorite is dad!
In addition to his work teaching The Mandt System®, Tim is a co-author of Supporting People with Complex Behaviors and Autism: Supports Through the Spectrum. Additionally, he is a sought-after conference speaker, trainer, keynote presenter, and behavior consultant. He has helped reduce and eliminate restraints and coercive programming in organizations and schools around the world. He has worked with people in educational facilities, detention centers, jails, psychiatric hospitals, developmental disabilities group homes, hospitals, law enforcement, nightclubs, and churches. As a parent of a child affected by a developmental disability, as well as a professional in the field, Tim brings a unique blend of personal and professional insights into his presentations.
